Signed on June 15 by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the agreement committed both sides to halt hostilities and pursue a gradual de-escalation of tensions. However, on June 27, the two countries exchanged strikes for the first time since the MoU was concluded, with each accusing the other of violating the agreement. The incident underscored that the ceasefire has produced only an uneasy deterrence rather than a stable peace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although neither Washington nor Tehran appears willing to return to full-scale war, the latest confrontation demonstrates how quickly military tensions can re-emerge. More importantly, the conflict has fundamentally reshaped the strategic landscape of the Persian Gulf. Even if ongoing negotiations succeed in preserving the MoU, the Strait of Hormuz is unlikely to return to its pre-war status as a predictable and secure maritime corridor. Instead, Iran is expected to continue treating the waterway as a key instrument of military and diplomatic leverage, while global shipping and energy markets will have to operate under a new condition
