T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Position amid the Israel-Iran War of 2025<\/b><\/p>\n

In response, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack, calling it a violation of international law and urged Israel to immediately cease its airstrikes. On June 13 and 21, after Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones toward Israel under its \u201cTrue Promise III\u201d operation, T\u00fcrkiye expressed concern in an official statement, warning that further escalation of the conflict could lead to catastrophic consequences. From June 19 to 20, T\u00fcrkiye hosted a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, attended by Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister. During the summit, President Erdo\u011fan declared Israel\u2019s attack unlawful, openly expressing support for Iran while also urging for de-escalation through diplomatic means. T\u00fcrkiye also announced plans to strengthen its air defense capabilities by enhancing its production of medium- and long-range missiles, citing national security needs. On June 22, following a U.S. strike on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a strong warning, stating that such actions could expand the war and trigger a global crisis. The U.S. government, while encouraging T\u00fcrkiye to take on a responsible mediating role with Iran, also indirectly warned that excessive military build-up could heighten regional tensions.<\/p>\n In response to Erdo\u011fan\u2019s remarks defending international law in support of Iran, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar criticized T\u00fcrkiye by referencing its past actions such as the incursion into Syria and the occupation of Cyprus, expressing deep displeasure and challenging T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s moral legitimacy. Additionally, difficulties in importing Iranian oil are expected to cause sharp price increases, and given T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s 560 km shared border with Iran, a potential influx of Iranian refugees cannot be ruled out. Moreover, the growing need to coordinate positions within NATO and the rise of domestic anti-government sentiment are intensifying the multifaceted crisis.
