Twelve Days of War Between Iran and Israel<\/b><\/p>\n
Hwang Yuihyun (SNUAC)<\/strong><\/p>\n In the early morning of June 13, 2025, the Israeli Air Force launched Operation Rising Lion, a surprise airstrike targeting Iran\u2019s nuclear and military facilities across the country. More than a hundred sites were attacked, including key nuclear installations in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, as well as air defense systems, missile bases, and major command centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Several high-ranking IRGC and military officials were reportedly killed. Simultaneously, Mossad led coordinated drone and cyber operations that effectively disabled Iran\u2019s air defense systems and communication infrastructure.<\/p>\n That same evening, Iran swiftly retaliated with Operation True Promise, launching over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones toward Israeli territory. While Israel’s Iron Dome and layered air defense systems intercepted the majority of the projectiles, several missiles struck urban areas such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, leaving dozens injured. In the following days, both sides exchanged further missile attacks and carried out limited air raids, escalating the conflict.<\/p>\n As tensions mounted, the United States ordered the evacuation of its citizens from the region and began deploying stealth bombers and aerial refueling aircraft to bases near the Persian Gulf in preparation for possible intervention. On June 21, the U.S. initiated Operation Midnight Hammer, a full-scale military strike. Using GBU-57 \u201cbunker-buster\u201d bombs, American B-2 stealth bombers carried out precision strikes on Iran\u2019s key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Following the operation, President Trump declared the mission a success, stating that \u201cFordow is gone\u201d and signaling that \u201cnow is the time for peace,\u201d suggesting a possible opening for post-strike negotiations.<\/p>\n However, assessments of the effectiveness of the U.S. airstrikes remain mixed.
