As of November 2025, Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu, the opposition\u2019s leading political figure and the mayor of Istanbul, is standing trial after being indicted on a wide range of criminal charges. In March 2025, the Istanbul Criminal Court arrested and detained \u0130mamo\u011flu on 142 counts, including forming and operating a criminal organization, bribery, public procurement rigging, unauthorized access to personal data, embezzlement, and money laundering.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iran has been hit by its worst drought in 50 years. This year, rainfall in Iran has decreased by 89% compared to normal. Tehran, which averages 350mm annually, has received less than 1mm this year. Many other parts of Iran have also experienced no rain. As a result of the prolonged drought, the Amir Kabir Dam, Tehran\u2019s main water reservoir, is at less than 10% of its capacity and is expected to be completely depleted within a month. The reservoir in Mashhad, the country\u2019s second-largest city, is at just below 3% of its capacity.<\/p>\n

However, in the West Bank, tensions spiked after an overnight Israeli raid near Ramallah left two Palestinian teenagers dead. Local residents reported that forces entered Kfar Aqab shortly before dawn, with the Palestinian Authority\u2019s health ministry later confirming the deaths of 16-year-old Sami Ibrahim Mashaikha and 18-year-old Amr Khaled al-Marboua. The incident adds to a rising toll in the territory amid escalating confrontations.<\/p>\n
