It has been suggested that Israel had planned a larger retaliatory attack against Iran but reduced the scale of the attack under pressure from allied countries such as the United States. Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian airbase in the Isfahan region in the early hours of the 19th. However, according to reports in the U.S. media, President Joe Biden of the United States, along with foreign ministers from the UK and Germany, emphasized the need to prevent escalation and persuaded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. On April 13-14, Iran attacked Israel using more than 300 missiles and drones. 99% of the launched missiles were shot down by Israel\u2019s air defense system and intercepted by the United States, Britain, and France stationed in the Middle East, resulting in little damage to Israel. Meanwhile, in addition to Western countries, Jordan also supported Israel and shot down dozens of missiles passing through its airspace.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the local elections held in all 81 provinces of T\u00fcrkiye on Sunday, March 31, a total of 30 metropolitan mayors, 1,363 district mayors, 1,282 local council members, and 21,001 district council members were elected. President Erdo\u011fan and his ruling party, the Justice and Development Party (AKP), experienced their biggest failure in power in this election. On April 14, 2024, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the grave situation in Sudan at a press conference. Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in intense political violence, primarily between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) recorded 5,550 incidents of political violence and over 15,550 fatalities.
